Box Kit Tri-nanza?

Box Kit Tri-nanza?

Trust me, Emaryllis well understands that the famed Box Kit Bonanza series has been a favorite feature for many a visitor. This season, the Emaryllis bench is jam packed pot-to-pot with new varieties to photograph and describe, and the Emaryllis bank account is not so jam packed with dollars as a result. Blame Royal Colors for pulling out all the stops this season. So many offerings, so little space, time and $. With cost in mind, and our faithful readers too, at least enough was spared to garner three budget friendly kits for a little ‘check in’ on the box kit scene for 2014. While three kits just don’t add up to a full-tilt bonanza, we shall still have some fun! So what do we get to dissect? Above are (left to right) ‘Opal Star’ kit from my neighborhood grocer, a ‘Minerva’ kit from a local chain nursery, and a no-name red kit from an independent nursery.

The results are quickly coming in, and as you see below one kit has already bloomed. Is it correctly labeled? Of course not! Tune in as we go through each kit in Emaryllis-style detail in the coming days and weeks.
